We want you to use electricity in important times.

1. When you use electricity you waste allot of electricity. You are wasting people’s work to get the electricity for us.

2. When you go somewhere at night time you would not be able to see.

3.  You will get a very dark black out.

You can save electricity by turning off light switches, turn off your radio when you’re finished with it. If you have toys that can speak, turn them off. Turn off the remotes for toys when you’re done with them. Turn off the computer when you’re finished. Turn off the heater because your blanket will keep you warm. Instead of reading of your computer read from your book. Turn off your printer. Turn off your fan.

Miss Molinari

cooltext1707321930There was a new teacher that was in university. Her name was Miss Molinari. She was learning how to be a good teacher. She could only stay for 3 weeks because she had to go back to university. She taught us some lessons.

She mostly taught us reading and maths. On the 3rd week it was Friday and we felt sad so we gave her a gift so she could remember all of us in 2B.

She was nice and kind. We had fun with her.  We  almost cried on Friday when she left. She was happy to teach 2B.

She taught us amazing things.  We didn’t want her to leave.

She had fun in 2B. She was an amazing university teacher!

How to Take a Great Photo

Last week Avraj, David, Zara and Kate were part of a Google Hangout with photography expert, Daniel Hedrick, from the USA.

They learnt some great photography tips, especially for taking photos using iPads. They became our photography experts and taught the rest of the grade how to take great photos.

Here are some of the photos we took using the new skills we learnt:

Here is our iPad tips poster, with some of the things we learnt from our experts:

Fantastic Narratives

By Hannah, Willow, Noah and Harleen

The narratives poster is about beginning, middle and ending, or orientation, problem and solution.

The narratives poster is about beginning, middle and ending, or orientation, problem and solution.

In 2B we have been learning how to write narratives.

Beginning / Orientation

We put the setting and characters in (which is who and where). We can include some sentences about what has happened. We should use exciting words, like disappointed, commotion, incredible and awesome. We have to include a bold beginning (hook the reader) by putting interesting words, describe using adjectives, verbs and nouns, describe characters and settings and using onomatopoeia.

You can roll a dice on any setting and you can choose it. If you're stuck you can roll again.

You can roll a dice on any setting and you can choose it. If you’re stuck you can roll again.

You can use one of the dice and it can give you ideas for your character.

You can use one of the dice and it can give you ideas for your character.

Problem / Middle

The problem is what goes wrong in the story. We have to make sure it has nice and juicy information. We have to include three or more events. We use our five senses which are

  • feel – I can feel the hot breath on my face.
  • hear – I can hear a bush swinging in the wind.
  • taste – I can taste the chocolate and strawberry melting in mouth.
  • smell – I can smell the salty ocean.
  • see – I can see a scary, gooey, green, terrifying monster behind my house.
The adjectives poster it helps you with describing words.

End / Solution

The solution is when they solve the problem. The character that is in danger should save themselves, not another person.

How Can We Use People Power?

We have been hard at work answering our guiding questions for the CBL topic of “Power”, including the question

“How can you use power?”

We looked at people power with our Pre-Service Teacher Miss Molinari and thought about how different people can have different types of power.

We each chose a person we think is powerful, and decided how we would use that power if we could be them.

We used to show our thinking.

These are our powerful people!

The Alice in Wonderland Concert

Most kids in Aitken Creek Primary School did the Alice in Wonderland concert on Thursday at 4:30. All the kids did different songs and dances.

We went into the gym and we did a warm up. We were doing stretches and doing dance moves. We were jogging on the spot. Mrs Greco put on the song Candy and everyone danced and exercised and sang along.

We went to the Grade 2 Learning Neighbourhood and we watched the concert on the TV by Skyping. We felt pumped, nervous and excited at the same time because we were about to do our performance with lots of parents and children watching us.

We walked in our three lines to the gym and we excitedly performed All in the Golden Afternoon. Some people were a bit shy and nerve-wracked and even though we made mistakes no one noticed. Our performance was jaw-dropping and our parents were so proud. It went very well.

Some people were proud of themselves because they didn’t get nervous. Some people were a bit nervous because there was a lot of parents and students but it all went well.

Delicious Healthy Pizzas

On Wednesday the 6th of August we made pizzas with our buddies. We made pizzas at school so we could get healthy and fit. We made them for CBL because we are looking for power and if we make our bodies stronger that is power.

We spread tomato paste on our bread. We used soft pita bread to use for the base.

Our toppings were:

  • cheese
  • corn
  • pineapple
  • broccoli
  • red capsicum
  • green capsicum
  • mushroom

Everyone tried new things on their own pizza. Josh tried mushroom for the first time but he didn’t like it! It was very brave.

We put it in the oven to make our pizzas cook and taste yum. The bread started to become crispy and became burning hot. If anyone had cheese it melted into stringy cheese.

We then started to munch them. Some people liked their pizzas and some people didn’t.

Fantastic Fractions

2B have been learning about fantastic fractions!

Day 1: We were cutting equal and not equal (unequal) shapes.

Day 2: We cut paper shapes of food in halves, quarters, eighths and sixteenths. They were equal. We used picnic mats and the paper shapes and we drew and folded them to become food.

We put them on the picnic mats so that it could look like a real picnic. We made pizza, pies, cakes, doughnuts and watermelon.

We had a joyful time designing the food.
